Trump Judge Appointee Strikes Down Trump's New Midterm Congressional Map
Trump's federal judge appointee Jeffrey Brown struck down Texas' new midterm Congressional map (which would have given the Republicans 5 more seats in the House) ruling "Substantial evidence shows that Texas racially gerrymandered the 2025 Map.” The main federal law against racial gerrymandering is Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. This law prohibits voting practices or procedures that discriminate on the baiss of race, color or membership in a minority group (identified in Section 4f2). This country has a long history or preventing minorities from voting. Due to Jim Crow laws, less than 100 years ago, only 3% of eligible Blacks were registered to vote. The Fifteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution prohibits the federal government or any state from denying or abridging a citizen's right to vote "on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude." It is refreshing to see a panel of justices (2 of 3 being Republican) call Trump on his brazen, racist gerrymandering in violation of the Constitution. Today we celebrate a win for democracy- peoples of all faiths, creeds, color and politics.
