Trump & His Bullshit Lawsuits
They say the best offense is a good defense. One thing I despise about Trump is his extreme dishonesty and abuse of the court system. He has a history of suing people, entities, companies and organizations as a weapon (not for legitimate legal purposes). The infamous Epstein 50th birthday card is a fact. When the Wall Street Journal reported on it (which has since been released in response to a congressional subpoena since the story), he sued them. Trump sued the Wall Street journal for defamation over this truth (truth is a defense and will set you free) for $10 billion dollars. As Ronald Collins reported, "When it comes to civil litigation, Trump is in a league of his own. By one account, Trump has been involved in more than 4,000 civil lawsuits over the years, ranging from business disputes to defamation and other actions. Even for someone like Trump, who has been involved in a variety of complex business ventures, that is a remarkable number of civil actions. One lesson Trump likely learned from his litigation experience is that lawsuits can be an effective form of leverage in business and other dealings. Indeed, even if a claim has no or little legal merit, it can be useful in terms of exhausting, intimidating, and silencing opponents." He breaks business contracts and resorts to making the companies sue him to settle on a fraction of the contract to get paid (not to mention these companies have to bear the legal costs.) A statistical deep dive into the Trump lawsuits can be found here. Contractors refer to Trump as "King of Debt", the stories of going out of business and becoming bankrupt are tragic. Trump's hypocrisy knows no bounds, Trump's White House released a memo entitled "Preventing Abuses of the Legal System and Federal Court." The memo "instructs Attorney General Pam Bondi and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to aggressively pursue court sanctions and disciplinary actions against lawyers and law firms that engage in “grossly unethical misconduct,” which it mainly seems to define as lawyers and lawsuits Trump doesn’t like." One day history will remember Trump as the biggest fraud and criminal ever to occupy the White House, all while making a mockery of the court system. Bullies misuse and abuse the court system, they need to face consequences for doing so. Not surprising Trump's election denier lawyers lost their law licenses. Lawyers are not hired guns. Lawyers must not file frivolous lawsuits or false documents. Trump has been successful in convincing officers of the court, lawyers, to act unethically. The United States Supreme Court needs to wake up. Trump sees them as nothing but his tool. Trump has no respect for the law. You can't negotiate with a terrorist. Trump is hell bent on getting his way, democracy be damned.
The bottom line is Trump uses lawsuits to suppress the truth, intimidate and scare. He must be held to account.
