Trump Threatens Members of Congress with Death

President Donald Trump threatened U.S. Rep. Jason Crow and other Democratic members of Congress with arrest and execution for a video produced reminding members of the military and intelligence community to refuse illegal orders from the Trump administration. Here is the video. In response to this video, Trump wrote on Truth Social: "SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH!" This is outrageous behavior. From a legal perspective, these folks are reminding government employees they cannot comply with an illegal order. They must follow the law. Trump sees this as treason. It is not. The President does not have the legal authority to tell people to break the law just because he is the Chief Executive of the Executive Branch. No one is above the law in the United States. Trump has gotten away with breaking the law to the point of abandon. His orders to demolish boats with countries we are not at war with, claiming they have drugs, is illegal. He and those carrying out the orders can face prosecution at the International Court of the Hague. Trump has taken it upon himself to determine all tariffs on foreign countries, when the legal authority belongs to Congress (Article 1, Secton 1 of the Constitution). The law is clear on the Electoral College and the peaceful transfer of power. History will remember his words on January 6, 2021 ""We fight like hell. And if you don't fight like hell, you're not going to have a country anymore." While rioters stormed the Capitol at Trump's behest, he refused to intervene for 187 minutes. When they were arrested, prosecuted and convicted- Trump pardoned over 1500 of the Jan. 6 rioters. This does not even touch on his mishandling of classified documents after his first presidency, the case where the grand jury indicted him for 40 felony counts. What more does the world need to know about his deeds with Jeffrey Epstein? It's enough to see the 50th birthday card he gave him referring to the "wonderful secret" the two of them shared. Kind of obvious when you hear him talk about Epstein (2002), "I've known Jeff for fifteen years. Terrific guy," Trump told New York magazine. "He's a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side. No surprise two days ago he also called Epstein "a sick pervert." Trump was found liable by a jury of sexual abuse and defamation of Jean Caroll. Remember at a campaign stop in Iowa when Trump declared, "I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody, and I wouldn't lose any voters, OK? It's, like, incredible." So Trump threatening members of Congress with death is an incorrect assumption he can unilaterally pronounce them traitors and carry out the death penalty. It does not work like that. He is not the Judge, Jury and Executioner all in one. First off, the Consitution is very clear on treason: (Article 3, Clause 1) Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court. Plain and simple, Trump is a thug. It's time he is held to account. There is absolutely nothing he won't do if given the chance.
