Up It to $40 Billion to Argentina

While our government goes into day 25 of the shutdown with no end in sight, the previous reported number of $20 billion for aid to Argentina is incorrect. The Trump administration is looking to increase that number to $40 billion. Meanwhile, those on the Affordable Care Act may see their premiums go up 30%. The main reason for the shutdown is Trump and the Republicans are not in favor of renewing the expiring health insurance premium tax credits. An estimated 5 million Americans are expected to lose their health insurance without these tax credits in 2026. Trump's priority at the moment is tearing down the historic East Wing of the White House (traditionally where First Ladies conducted business) to build a huge ballroom Congress did not approve or appropriate funds for. The fact he is considering naming it after himself, no surprise. It is not possible for Trump to be more tone deaf to the needs of his people. Much like the aristocracy in the French Revolution, the Republicans will be wining and dining in the 90,000 square foot ballroom overflowing with champagne and caviar while hard working Americans with 2-3 jobs will be going without critical, life saving health care.
